    Flickring

Lindsay at Ouno Design collected some interesting photos and facts about The McBarge, one of Vancouver’s most unlikely landmarks.
This thing, known as McBarge by Vancouverites, is the hulking remains of a floating McDonalds. It was custom-built for our Expo ‘86 World’s Fair and then carelessly left rusting in the harbour for 23 years as some sort of ghost ship.
Photos of The McBarge in its heyday can also be found here.

CO-INKY-DINK! GUESS WHERE I WAS YESTERDAY?? On a boat, cruising past the McBarge, telling the story to a visiting friend from Switzerland!!
Fun fact: my dad told me when he was president of BCIT in the early ’90s, he tried to get McDonald’s to sell the McBarge to them for use as BCIT’s airport campus, which obviously didn’t happen. I think they should just sink it and use it as an artificial reef. Imagine all the fun underwater photos you could take in there?
