The hyperspace one gave me a night of adolescent existential dread when I ended up frozen in a space coma for all of eternity. That shit was serious business. Yeah, these books used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid.  Some of the bad endings were really awful, and a little harsh for children, I think.  There was one, I recall, where you ended up sinking in quicksand.  Who Killed Harlowe Thrombey?, as I recall, had a few dreadful fates in it, as well.
