My grandmother passed peacefully this morning just before 8 am.
This Mother’s Day, we celebrate our matriarch… the lioness of our pride.
RIP Joan Maud Haggith Blair
More photos of the family trip with nephbro Jackson to celebrate my grandparents’ 69th wedding anniversary this past weekend. Gorgeous cake made by my cousin Krista (in black, in the middle photo) and my aunt Cheryl (far right, in turquoise). So great to see everyone so happy*!
*A sad coda to this lovely day: granny went into hospital later that night after we left, experiencing severe Parkinson’s symptoms. She’s now not eating and can’t recognize anyone anymore, so this may have been our last visit. Fingers crossed for her recovery, please! :(
My cuz and the droid she was looking for. And Lupe, the chihuahua, photo bombing in the wrong direction. #latergram #fams (at Brickwood Park)
If ya got Irish ancestors, everybody’s gotta pitch in making stew & soda bread on St. Paddy’s! #stpatstagram #fams (at Casa Chihuahua)
A very intense couple of days serving as primary caregiver for my almost 89 year old granny with advanced Parkinson’s while my 90 year old gramps gets checked out in hospital after what they thought might have been another minor stroke (no signs of it, however!). He’ll be home today, and my dad is there now making sure all is well.
A lot to think about now that I’m back.
But mainly, I feel so grateful to still have them both.
Marshmallow conga line.
My brain-meltingly talented cousin just made these for her granny’s 90th birthday. (Pic via her FB)
